P90X Week 2

Week 2 of self inflicted torture P90X! I have fully realized my weak points (which I pretty much knew already); I have zero motivation to complete a workout unless Adam is with me, and I often have zero energy at the end of the night. Adam was done with yoga after 45 minutes, and I pretended to try for an additional 5…until I just shut it off. On Saturday Adam had to get some work done so I was by myself for the workout. I tried to mentally prepare myself all day (“You are SO pumped to kick ass during this workout!”), I turned the video on, got 5 minutes into the stretching and shut it off.

I am really trying to pick apart my eating habits to make sure I realize what foods give me the most energy. So far of all of the carbs I have tried (potatoes, pasta, sweet potatoes, rice, fruit, yogurt)  brown rice gives me a phenomenal amount of energy compared to the rest. I also realized (inadvertently) eating a low carb lunch (usually veggies/salad/protein/dairy) lead to me basically falling asleep by 5 pm. I am a freak of nature and I am hardly ever tired. Hardly ever. Unless… say….we were out until 4 am at the Lodge and then heading back to a friends for pizza….then obviously the next day I will be tired. In my everyday life though, I hardly ever experience that 3 o’clock slump. I am damn proud of that fact actually, and I tend to think it is because of getting good sleep and usually making good food choices. So when I started this workout schedule and I was literally blinking and almost falling asleep in my chair…I knew I wasn’t doing something right. I no longer have that fatigue setting in, but I will say that usually half way through the workout, trying to get myself to enthusiastically complete an exercise is like pulling teeth. Though maybe it’s like that for everyone in the beginning.

I will say that this week is already world’s better than last week. I have already increased my reps for exercises and feel more strength while completing them. Hopefully the Easter weekend dessert-fest doesn’t put TOO much of a dent in my work. J
